          BE A RAINBOW IN SOMEONE'S CLOUD
Mountains and fog
Sitting on broken legs
Filter coffee feels ya
But paratha in south india
Monkey business everywhere
Instagram posts of being here and there
Saathiya songs while travelling
Pine forests me jabardast posing
Deepika ne li selfie
Shasha ne candid
We have come here to get rid of all the routine shit
While going down to dolphin point we got rain
Climbing back up was going to give us lot of pain
While waiting for rains to stop
We rested had lime juice and deeps took selfie from top
Amidst nature understanding ourselves
But finding network....why dont we just lose ourselves
On the edge I look down into the valley
Life is so fragile
1 step and i wonder what will happen i am not that agile
Life reduced to 1 step
I sit with palpitations in my chest
I wanted to cry very badly
But i was so happy glad i came happily
Gave an extra 10 to shanti at the tea stall
The boiling lemon tea made my heartbeats halt
From somewhere deepika shouted
Called me to see the rainbow at outset
Havent seen anything so beautiful till now
My heart seemed blessed to the core and how
I hugged her tightly
With gratitude rightly
Coming back tired and exhausted
Wished it would have longer lasted
While going back in car there was only one way
How would it be if in life we had no say
1 route 1 choice 1 life
Then why would anybody strive
Sitting in the car listening to chaiya chaiya
I felt so comforted with the forests as my blankets ya.

My first blog was on Being a Community Medicine doctor. I expressed how difficult it was to explain my specialization to random aunties. It wasn't love at first sight - me choosing this branch. But accepting whatever came to me and falling in love with the subject as I explored all the nooks and crevices of this subject in detail. I found this subject as a very useful tool to provide medical services to the community at large. I said in that blog what's in a name? What is the need to call it community medicine and not Preventive and Social Medicine.  But applying this subject and the learnings for more than two and a half years (well not that much of an experience timewise)  I have realized that community medicine is actually a better name.  PSM makes people focus just on the preventive aspect. Let’s talk Depression “I don’t feel normal” Sneha told her mother. “What is not normal? You get up, you do your chores ,you study ,you have food with us , you laugh at jokes ,watch T.V. Everything is norml my child, you must be feeling hungry, go eat something then you will feel better.” Sneha’s mother answers her.What could possibly be wrong? Sneha is a graduate MBBS doctor studying for her entrance exams. She is beautiful, she is intelligent ,she is independent. But she doesn’t feel normal. She wants to tell somebody. She goes to her friends who tell her to just chill, stress is a compulsory part of life these days.It’s just a phase. Life will be better when she gets a post-graduate seat, they tell her. Being a community medicine doctor!

Random aunty in society asking,"So what are you doing these days?" "I am doing M.D in Nair hospital."I say proudly hoping to avoid further questions. "Oh great! What specialization?" The inevitable question comes for which I know I would have to spend sufficient time and energy answering it. P.S.M .....Who does that?It is nobody's first choice.Random aunties don't even know about it and they think that I am pursuing some new found branch.....which makes me look good in front of her ...but seriously P.S.M people are thought of as those who build latrines for poor people and who take advantage of so many bank holidays. Oh Ok sorry its not P.S.M anymore.Its Community Medicine....Gives it a clinical feel.Makes us feel more like doctors rather than social workers.But does it really mater what we call ourselves.Think.What we do as preventive doctors is just secondary.The name matters.Fancy!.
